Tomorrow is a big deal for me, as a teacher. It is the first official year (2020-2021) that I will begin my journey as a Learn From Home Teacher in the public school system. Who would have guessed that 20 years ago I would be teaching students over the internet?!? Definitely, not me.
When there was talk about possibly having this model at the end of last school year, I quickly emailed the principal and told of my interest. Crazy, you may think. I was up for the challenge, but when I received a phone call in July asking me to do it, I asked for time to think about it. I was told I would be teaching fifth grade students all content areas. I was a little hesitant at first, although I knew I wanted to do it. I was just unsure because teaching everything to fifth grade students would be a challenge. After thinking it through for a few hours, I told the principal I would do it.
Fast forward to today, Sunday, August 16, 2020…It’s the day before the first day of school for my students (the traditional students (face-to-face) started two weeks prior) and I wonder what they are thinking. Are they even thinking about tomorrow or is it just me trying to figure out how all of this is going to work out. I am excited and thrilled about having this opportunity to teach children using a different platform and creating lessons virtually. Are you wondering what will happen?
